I upgraded to an AMD FX 8370 after the FX 6300, and whenever I play games at random times my frame rate drops while my CPU temperature also decreases. I’m curious about why this happens. Is it related to the cooler performance compared to what I was expecting? If not, would you consider getting a new one?

The thermal paste you're using could be too hot for your cooler, though it's not significantly warmer than the 6300. Your cooler seems capable of managing it. It's unlikely your cooler is the issue.

You didn't specify your GPU, which plays a big role in performance across many titles. The 8370, part of the FX series, is considered a poor choice for modern games, and even top-tier FX chips often overheat.

By current benchmarks, this GPU is quite outdated. It hasn’t been used for many games or at high resolutions.

Didn't notice you were relying on a stock cooler. That could be an issue, especially with FX 6300s. Check if you can find a higher-quality one (anything that fits the socket will help). The Hyper 212 is the most affordable choice around for about $30.
