Hello! I’m not used to ASUS BIOS menus, but I believe the first step is checking the BIOS settings and disabling any options related to quick-sleep, hibernation, and similar power or startup features. It seems the issue might be with the 5V SB not working correctly or being recognized by the motherboard, so I’d start there and see if the problem continues. Also, it would help if you could share screenshots or photos of your BIOS interface so others familiar with ASUS firmware can assist in diagnosing any issues I can’t resolve. Hope this helps and let me know if you have more questions. Cheers! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ* P.S. I just noticed it listed AORUS instead of ASUS, so I should be able to offer more targeted support.

I just purchased it new and wanted to fully update the BIOS. This is something I usually do with a new motherboard, but it hasn’t happened before. Could you clarify what you mean by "different battery type"? If you’re familiar with Aorus Mobiles, where can I adjust the hibernation, sleep power, or startup settings? I tried enabling CSM on boot and setting legacy mode, but it only worked when the PC was in sleep.

Even though CSM is designed for UEFI, GPT and older boot firmware I think it's better to go back to the default firmware settings. These can often cause conflicts if not carefully set, leading to unexpected issues. Also, @Caroline makes a valid observation about the battery—it might be due to a failing battery on the motherboard that isn't holding a charge and messing up BIOS configurations. However, this would only happen if BIOS settings are being reset each time the problem appears. If your BIOS remains intact after these strange boot events, it's unlikely the battery is the issue. As a personal tip, I'd advise against updating BIOS on motherboards or GPUs until more users have tested it and confirmed there are no hidden problems. Please let us know if changes in settings affect boot behavior. (づ)

Consider using an earlier bios version if needed. If not, the CMOS battery appears to be out of action since the bios isn’t resetting. I’ve already tried the battery replacement method—removed it for five minutes while the PSU was off.

When evaluating the PSU across different setups or systems, now is an ideal moment to eliminate the power supply issue. The CMOS battery generally functions correctly unless you use a multimeter to verify the charge. Updating an older BIOS could help but at a minimum it would exclude a bad BIOS, which would then point to a motherboard's 5vSB problem.
