My computer has been acting up for a while, and I’m unsure what to do. It sometimes freezes unexpectedly or when switching tabs—especially between Valorant and Chrome on my dual monitors. I can move the mouse and interact normally, but nothing updates on the screen except for the sound. I’ve reinstalled Windows cleanly and updated my graphics drivers. I thought the SSD might be overheating, given the high temperatures in India (around 43°C) and the CPU/GPU temps hovering near 40°C–50°C during Valorant. Please advise if anyone knows how to fix this issue.

Sure, I get it. You're not facing the same problem as before. It sounds like overheating could affect your system, making it slower or causing crashes. Just keep an eye on temperatures to stay safe.

A failing HDD might lead to the whole system freezing, especially if you're certain it's malfunctioning. Even when idle or not in use, connecting it can trigger crashes and slowdowns. Additionally, using dual monitors with full-screen games often causes occasional freezes when you switch tabs or return to the game, which is typical. To avoid this, try running your game in borderless or standard windowed mode, allowing smoother tab navigation without freezing.

I operate in a windowless setting and my computer becomes stuck forever until I perform a hard reset, after which I will delete the hard drive.

Yes, I have a slideshow as my background image. If you need it disabled, I experienced the same problem several years ago—each time the image changes, it loads the new one quickly to avoid high disk usage.

You might want to explore alternative solutions. I understand this could be inconvenient. 1. Perform a memory diagnostic check to verify if your RAM is malfunctioning. Suggest running the extended test and allowing it to complete overnight—it may take several hours.

How to run Windows Memory Diagnostic | Microsoft Surface 2. This process can be time-consuming, but it helps identify issues with your SSD. I had an issue with an Intenso 120GB SSD where it would freeze unexpectedly, play music, and move the mouse, but become unresponsive when clicking tabs or seeing frozen images. I tried booting from another drive to test, but the problem persisted even after reinstalling on the same SSD. Once I replaced it, the issue disappeared and the SSD functioned properly for gaming.
