Thermal paste is applied to the GPU or CPU. If you're using your CPU, look into BIOS instead of Windows for temperature checks. For a GPU, since BIOS doesn't display temperatures, verify them right away before proceeding. It seems the paste might not have been enough or the heatsink wasn't secured properly.
I have an i3-4170 with 2x4GB RAM. When I turn it on, it immediately lights up and then shuts down again before I start playing. I downloaded a core temp software to keep track of its temperature, but it suddenly powers off, then restarts after a few seconds when I press a button.
I recently applied fresh thermal paste, resumed gaming, but the system shut down abruptly because it overheated. It only started fans and RGB before powering off again.
Choose whatever you apply to the surface. You’ll have to reposition it again. Capture a photo of the paste placement. The squeezed pattern will help determine if more pressure was needed. If overheating occurs, allow time for cooling before restarting so it can stabilize.
