Pc details: Processor: R5 5600g Graphics: Rx 590 nitro+ Memory: Asus Prime b450m A-II RAM: Corsair vengeance rgb pro 2x8 3200mhz System Clock: PSU: Cooler Master v650 sfx Gold fully modular Storage: 500gb NVMe Updates, last Saturday morning I finally acquired a graphics card and connected it to my computer that previously ran on an APU for several months. First, I disconnected the PSU and held the power button for a few seconds to confirm no power remained. Then I inserted the graphics card, verified all connections were secure, and tried to boot up. Immediately after, the PC failed to start. I tried some standard procedures like clearing CMOS with a known method, but it didn’t help. Eventually, I removed the graphics card and attempted to boot using the APU. It didn’t work either. I tried a BIOS flashback using the latest version available on Asus’ website. Luckily, the PC restarted several times before it could boot. I held the power button briefly and then switched off the PSU. In my second attempt, it booted again using default settings, with RAM still running at 2133mhz. I thought it would work normally, but it didn’t. I then downloaded AMD GPU drivers hoping they’d fix the issue, but all options required installing the GPU first. From there, I powered off the PC, reinstalled both RAM sticks and the graphics card in their original positions, along with the PSU. The PC restarted with Profile #1 and RAM at full speed, functioning properly for a few days. On Tuesday, while playing games, I had to shut it down and put it into hibernate. When I returned, the fans spun but the screen remained blank—just like during a post. I repeated the troubleshooting steps, but it never worked again. I’m unsure what’s causing the problem—could it be the motherboard, RAM, or CPU? I unplugged everything except the CPU and one RAM stick. I ran a BIOS flashback once more, hoping it would resolve the issue. It didn’t. Now I’m unsure what to do next, as I don’t have another machine to test my hardware. I noticed my motherboard seems missing a ceramic capacitor and a resistor near the ITE chip (the audio-related component). Could that be the reason?
Have you explored another PCIe port? It looks like the controller might be missing some resistors or those small rectangular components.
After checking the motherboard thoroughly, it appears there isn’t a second slot available. It seems all the controller slots are damaged. I’ll honor your motherboard. Unfortunately, the best alternatives are to use the APU graphics or find a different motherboard.
Thank you for your message. I attempted several times to use the APU, but it didn't post. The GPU was completely disconnected.
