I recently assembled this system about a month ago, and with the parts I have, I expected solid FPS. However, in every game I’m seeing only 50-70 FPS even at low settings. Here are the specs: MSI GTX 1060, 6GB RAM, Ryzen 5 2400G B450M, Gigabyte motherboard, Trident Z RAM. I’ve spent a lot on it and am frustrated by the poor performance and screen tearing. The benchmark image reflects what users report.
Which titles are you playing? Are you connecting your 1060 or have you linked the video cables to your motherboard? What is your RAM capacity? Based on the limited details you provided, it seems like typical performance.
Fortnite runs smoothly at 1920x1080 with low settings, but I usually see under 60 FPS. Overwatch performs better at 70-80 FPS, though it still has noticeable frame drops. My RAM can handle up to 3000 MHz, but sometimes the PC restarts when it hits that speed, so I keep it at 2133. The cables are connected and I’m using the 1060 in the NVIDIA control panel—just a bit of guidance for someone new to the system.
I'm looking for ways to reduce the frequency. After adjusting to 3000MHz, the PC kept restarting and continuing afterward. I'll give it another shot with DDU.
Using the XMP profiles, click on a lower frequency such as 2933 and apply it.
The processor performance is limited by memory capacity. Even with a 2700x chip, stock RAM can cause significant slowdowns. It seems you're not overly concerned about the BIOS settings. My initial suggestion is to address your memory setup. If you encounter blue screens in Windows, it likely points to compatibility problems. When your system restarts repeatedly without loading the OS, the motherboard may be trying to adjust RAM timings. Start by enabling XMP and setting frequencies in steps—2400, then 2666, finally 2933 Mhz. Some boards can't support XMP speeds due to incompatibility. If issues persist, we can go over timings together. A helpful video explains handling RAM timing on a gigabyte board; the sequence 20-20-20-40 usually works well.
I'm really concerned about the bios. Last time I entered, my PC would restart during gameplay. I followed the advice from the video and what you mentioned, but my FPS only increased by a few tens of frames. In Overwatch, with low settings I should be seeing around 200 or more, yet I’m now getting just 80.
