It might just be that. Running updates or a virus scan could achieve the same result. If you have room on an SSD, try relocating the problematic game there to check if the issue resolves.

I attempt to relocate the game to my SSD, but I suspect the issue lies there. The HDD's read speed might be as low as 500kb, which could cause delays even though it feels worse than before.
