I have a GTX 1080 with 8GB VRAM and a Core i5 9400. I believed there was a bottleneck, but the Bottleneck Calculator site from PC Builds showed only 17% as a limitation. However, when I check my GPU usage it hits 99% during games like Far Cry 5, so I have to lower the game settings and graphics. The recommended system specs say the game should work fine, but it doesn’t. My drivers are current, so I’m unsure what’s really causing the issue.
What a misleading question—bottleneck tools aren’t reliable, and your actual frame rate depends on your hardware. What’s the RAM speed you’re using?
Avoid relying on those basic estimators. Which other activities are you engaged in? What is your frame rate?
My average frames mainly change with the game, not the resolution. For example, in Far Cry 4 I played at normal settings and about 60fps, but I just lowered my graphics settings. With a 3200MHz RAM and a Corsair 16GB Vengeance, performance should be solid.
On CS2 I see around 60fps max but my resolution feels very low. In Farcry 5 it's similar, hitting about 50fps max with normal settings also around 46fps, all on low. Fortnite runs at 1920x1080 in low settings and I get 90-130fps.
Verify if Vsync is enabled across the majority of games. Monitor temperatures and clocks, then provide an update.
