Your computer is behaving oddly.
I recently purchased a second hand PC, the specs being Windows 11, 16GB RAM (8x2 Corsair Vengeance), A RX 6600, Ryzen 5600, and originally a B450 rev2.0 Gigabyte motherboard, but I swapped it to an ASUS B550m-A WIFI II. When I first bought it everything seemed fine at first but after a few minutes I noticed everything started to bug. Everything Chromium/Electron based just didn't work as intended, Browsers like MS Edge, and Chrome wouldn't render properly or work at all, or show raw HTML. Apps like Spotify, and Medal refused to work too. Steam was fine though. I managed to get around the issue by using the Portable Chrome, and that's about it. And Discord didn't work at all either, by either refusing to open up or be stuck on the updater thing, I had to downgrade it to Windows 8 with the compatibility thing on Windows itself, but Discord was warning that I'd have to upgrade my application soon, Vencord worked but after a day or something I just couldn't open the Plugins or anything in the Vencord tab thing. I asked ChatGPT for help which obviously didn't work as it was telling me to basically buy a new PC, hence why I bought a new motherboard. I also did the RAM stick method where you take one out and so on but it had no result I spent a good few weeks trying to find solutions but I'm left at a dead end every time so could someone please help me with this. Another thing to mention is that on the browsers that act strange downloads are also not completed, or corrupted, and when I try to run something downloaded from it, it doesn't run or the extraction fails. And my my Microsoft Store doesn't let me log in, and I can't login on MC Launcher or download Minecraft Bedrock.
I've learned that certain Ryzen processors might experience performance drops after prolonged exposure to excessive voltage. This isn't as widespread as Intel's Raptor Lake problems, but some reports exist. Since you purchased it used, it's worth considering. Did the prior owner manually increase the voltage or tweak settings? You might want to update the BIOS if needed and reset it to default. Disable XMP/Expo profiles. If this improves things, look for a compatible profile that runs smoothly. It could also indicate a failing drive—check its SMART status using CrystalDiskInfo. Feel free to share a screenshot here.
I looked into it and XMP was already disabled. The only available profile didn’t make a difference, and I’m still confused about the CrystalDiskInfo output.
https://crystalmark.info/en/ or https://sourceforge.net/projects/crystaldiskinfo/. It’s also available on their website. Have you reinstalled Windows? Did you verify the drivers beforehand? Were you already using the system when you purchased it?
Smart Data is here. I've reinstalled Windows several times—10 and 11—and I don't know what you're asking about checking drivers. They all worked until recently when I updated to Windows 11. I thought maybe an update would help, but now my AMD Adrenaline won’t install properly. All other updates are fine, and I downloaded the Whql version to ensure safety. Yes, Windows was already installed when I bought it, but after reinstalling, the key disappeared and I just followed the script.
Other notes: In Task Manager everything shows 32-bit, even the Edge updater. I checked my taskbar—one of my programs has a white background. When I reset my graphics using the shortcut, it doesn’t help. I’m not sure if that’s related to transparency or something else.
The SMART tables look normal, and your drives appear okay. You've reinstalled Windows multiple times. You mentioned using a script to activate Windows—what one did? Testing memory is next; Memtest86 is a well-known choice. You'll need to download it and make a bootable USB drive. If you prefer not to do that, Windows Memory Diagnostic comes pre-installed—just search for it. It's easier but less thorough than Memtest86. Another option is Memtest86+, an open-source alternative to Memtest86. I still think your CPU might be failing, especially if you could swap in someone else's Ryzen for testing. Many of the issues you're seeing are likely due to a worn-out CPU.
i used the mas script <removed> i read apprently its reliable and i knew someone else who it used so i thought it would be fine, i did do the windows memory diagnostic before and said it was fine but i will do the memtest86 for more results. if it is the cpu do you know where i could buy a new 5600 without the wraith cooler since there wouldnt be a point in getting one with it. thank you Edited August 10, 2025 by Kilrah Removed piracy link
You shouldn't rely on Windows activation for security reasons. It can expose your computer to viruses and malware, which might compromise sensitive data like email information. Running Windows without activation restricts certain customization features, though it remains functional. There are also legitimate resellers offering affordable valid keys. You might still be able to use an existing key, even from a previous version such as Windows 10, if it hasn't been used recently. I noticed @Kilrah edited your message. Keep in mind that the issue could relate to your CPU, so I suggested checking with a friend for a spare unit instead of purchasing a new one. Do you have the old motherboard available? You could consider using it if it's still operational. If Windows Memory Diagnostic reports no issues, your RAM seems intact, but running Memtest86 would be a good extra precaution.
Sure, I'll run MemTest when I get home. I think the issue might not be with the script itself since it worked before and had a real key when sold to me. I can also perform a CPU test with another unit this week and let you know the results. Regarding the Crystal Info section, there doesn’t appear to be anything unusual about your CPU details.
