In recent days my Wi-Fi has been unreliable and I initially blamed the network card, so I purchased a new USB adapter. The one arrived yesterday but the issue persists. In Steam downloads, the connection should reach 60Mbps from our ISP, yet the peak speeds are around 40Mbps—acceptable—but gaming and voice calls become problematic due to constant drops (Windows Speedtest shows 6.41ms jitter). Interestingly, connecting via Ethernet gives a steady 55Mbps, while my phone works wirelessly and my brother’s Xbox does too. My only constraint is my stepfather who refuses to install an Ethernet cable because he says it could damage the carpets. I’ve considered Powerline Ethernet but he doesn’t trust it. Additionally, we operate two networks at home: one directly from the router with a booster in the corner opposite my PC (though I think I need to connect separately), and another via Ethernet from the router to an Apple Airport location (presumably). My other PC specs include an ASUS AMD PRIME A320M-K motherboard, Ryzen 7 2700, 2x8GB at 2400MHz RAM, and a Sapphire Nitro+ RX580 8GB card. I’ve reset my PC completely a few months ago after installing an M.2 drive. I’m unsure whether the problem lies with my hardware, router, or software. Please let me know if you need more details. Thank you.

No machines with strong network connections are linked to the same network as yours.

My Brothers Xbox is connected to the Apple network and functions properly. I’m unsure what network my stepdad uses for his laptop, but it seems to work too. I’m on the Apple network myself.
