I hope someone can clarify why your PC fails to boot when you use RAM faster than 2400Mhz. You have two 16GB sticks (Crucial CT16G4DFD8266) installed on a Gigabyte B450M DS3H with a Ryzen 7 2700X. When set to 2400Mhz everything functions properly, but if you configure the BIOS to auto-detect the standard speed (2666Mhz), the system won’t start and you must replace the RAM with 2400Mhz units to access BIOS settings. The issue seems to be that both Mobo and CPU support only up to 2400Mhz, yet you’re encountering problems at higher speeds. It appears the low RAM speed might also limit your CPU’s performance—perhaps it can’t sustain 3.86GHz instead of the expected 4.2GHz during Cinebench tests. Which component is likely causing this limitation? The PSU appears capable, providing a solid 700W 80+ Bronze power supply.

Uncertain about the slots you're using, but dual channel 2 sticks fit A2 and B2. A 3.9GHz standard boost for a 2700X setup. With PBO +200 it hits 4.1GHz, so this CPU can't reach 4.2GHz unless you make changes yourself.

I assumed the 4.2Ghz figure from AMD was typical, but it seems that's the standard now. The RAM modules are correctly placed in slots A2 and B2, while A1 and B1 remain empty.

Thanks for the details. I’ll remember this. Attempted a CMOS reset but no effect. It might be an issue with Mobo or the CPU struggling with faster RAM speeds.

I believe the issue lies with the memory kit, not the board or CPU. My 2700x has been running well above the Jedec frequencies.

Remove the RAM module. The 2666CL19 model runs very slowly with Ryzen processors and only accepts JEDEC standards. Get a 2x16GB 3200C16 XMP upgrade kit, preferably from Crucial Ballistix.
