I aim to upgrade my CPU because the frame rate issues I've faced for more than a year seem linked to my processor. I'm struggling to determine the PSU and its compatibility with my motherboard. I'm considering swapping from an i7-10700F to an i7-11700F, but I'm unsure if that would work with my current setup. Any recommendations would be helpful. It’s about the performance lag you’re experiencing despite a strong build. The issue likely stems from other factors like graphics settings, driver conflicts, or system resource limits.

I play TF2, LoL, Overwatch and Smite. I only get lag in TF2 and LoL, which are CPU dependent games, and Overwatch and Smite which are GPU dependent games, don't get any fps drops in the slightest. Here's an example of how much lag I'm getting in TF2, And its constant fps drops like just starting the game it happens.

You mentioned the problem seems elsewhere, what other steps have you attempted to resolve it?

11700F would bring almost no noticeable impact on performance. TF2 is 14 years old, so it’s ready for this. Your 10700F is definitely strong enough to manage it. You often mention the term "lag." Lag refers to network issues—it doesn’t just mean occasional drops in frame rate. Here, there’s a higher likelihood the issue stems from your internet connection rather than any hardware problems.

Disconnected the GPU, reinstalled Windows 10, and then switched back to Windows 11. Performed a factory reset on the computer. Adjusted the mouse polling rate to 125 instead of 1000 or 500. None of these changes resolved the issue.

You're wondering if your network might be affecting your gaming performance, especially with FPS issues. I assumed networking shouldn't impact frame rates.

FPS not met. Performance issues detected. Connection type: WiFi or Ethernet?

You're experiencing consistent performance with low latency in both games.

The system might be outdated, XMP not enabled, and the CPU cooler or case airflow could be restricting performance.
