On January 13th I played F1 22 on my laptop linked to a 2k 144Hz external screen. I needed to step away briefly for food, about ten minutes later I returned only to find the display had shut down and fans running at full speed. The keyboard stopped responding, so I forced a shutdown. It took roughly twenty seconds before it fully powered off after disconnecting all peripherals and restarting after a couple of minutes. After turning it back on with charging, the situation repeated: keyboard flickered once, display stayed off, status light toggled. When I tried to restart again, the fans sped up and the screen remained dark. After several attempts, I left it on for hours only to see fans at maximum and the display still off. The keyboard stayed unresponsive. I attempted a hard reboot and reset, but the problem persisted. I reinstalled an 8GB RAM stick (the other was soldered) yet the laptop wouldn’t turn on. I haven’t removed the battery because of a previous issue where the connector pin damaged the power controller. The device is now out of warranty, so I’m doing whatever I can without spending much. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Laptop specs: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401IIHE231TS 2021 model Ryzen 7 4800H, Nvidia GTX 1650ti, 8+8GB GDDR4 RAM, 1TB SSD, 64-bit Windows 11.

What graphics presets were you employing? The game resolution was set to a specific level. How long have you been using this monitor? Your FPS counter indicated what speed you were seeing. Did the laptop provide sufficient airflow and lack any blockages? It seems your graphics card might not be suited for that title given the high resolution and 144Hz rate. You risk damaging your GPU as shown in the benchmark link.
