My brother purchased an Acer C7 chromebook around six months ago. About four months later, it stopped booting and wouldn’t start ChromeOS—it kept showing us a message about needing a recovery SD card or USB drive. We followed the instructions from Geeksquad, which said we were pioneers in turning a Chromebook into a brick. They even contacted Google, who admitted they didn’t understand why it failed and promised to investigate. We decided to switch it to Ubuntu, but we need to boot it into developer mode first. This isn’t possible without a functional ChromeOS installation. I’m asking if anyone smarter than me can suggest a solution—maybe there’s a hidden feature or a workaround to get it back online temporarily. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I investigated this, but my takeaway is that the problem lies with the operating system being damaged. It isn’t about the BIOS. I can’t access the development mode to resolve it. Are you getting this wrong?
