Hi everyone, I’m reaching out for some advice. I built my first PC in 2020. It had a Gigabyte B450 DS3H motherboard, an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU, a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super OC, 6GB of RAM, Corsair 2x8GB DDR4 at 3200MHz, a 240GB SATA III SSD, a 4TB Seagate IronWolf NAS drive, and a Corsair RM650 case. The power supply was Corsair RM650, and the case was NZXT H510 Elite.

In the past year, I’ve faced some issues. Initially, it would crash during games. Even after replacing the RAM, the problem persisted. I suspect a motherboard fault, especially since it might not last long and I’m feeling a bit anxious (my partner got a new PC).

I’m planning to replace the motherboard and am hoping to repurpose the old system into a NAS. Today I tried turning it on, but it wouldn’t show anything. I’ve checked all connections and even tried reseating the RAM, but nothing works. The fans are running, but there’s no display. I’m trying to figure out how to get it functional for my NAS project. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Consider upgrading the BIOS to the most recent release.

I considered checking the LEDs for issues, but the manual doesn’t list them. It seems this board is likely a budget model, since I haven’t seen an Intel MoBo without boot LEDs before.

Have you considered using the 1660S on the other PC to verify compatibility? Also, have you tried swapping your secondary graphics card into this setup?

Have you attempted to reset the CMOS? Also, have you tried a single stick of RAM? Yes

It seems the issue might be with either the board or the CPU. You'll need spares to determine which one is the problem...

Some electronic parts tend to wear out more quickly, especially capacitors, which can cause problems. I’m not sure your motherboard is old enough to have bad capacitors, though it might be. The graphics card could be the issue—try testing it on another machine to confirm. My main concerns are the power supply and the boot SSD. You might want to swap out the power supply and disconnect the SSD and HDD, as they aren’t needed for booting into BIOS. Good luck!
