Your 2070 Super isn’t up to the task for VR anymore.
You're facing a tough situation with your Oculus Rift setup. It sounds like your GPU isn't handling the performance of the 2070 well enough, even though others with similar cards managed to get good results. Make sure your drivers are fully updated and try adjusting settings like resolution or refresh rate to see if that helps. If the issue persists, it might be worth checking for other factors like software conflicts or hardware limitations.
Verify your CPU and GPU temperatures after 10 minutes to confirm they're stable. If you've installed any NVIDIA drivers in the past six months (post-451.48), there may be a bug affecting SteamVR performance, potentially causing frame drops. Consider downgrading to a version without this issue, as a patch is expected soon. Additionally, software that tracks temperatures, frame rates, fans, etc., (such as f.lux) might contribute to frame drops and reprojection—closing them before VR sessions could help.
I've handled that before; the only available options are Oculus and Steam VR.
There seems to be a discrepancy. My CPU matches the 2070 Max-Q but I’m seeing an 11 with a G5 5500. It might be worth investigating further. Review Nvidia configurations and add vr.exe, adjusting OpenGL and other parameters to direct usage toward the dedicated GPU instead of the iGPU. Also, ensure Alienware software is enabled and verify power/performance settings there.
