You mount the disk onto the hard drive (I believe I haven’t done this in a while, but from what I recall it’s the standard method) and you insert the CD only when you wish to play. It’s similar to installing games on the Xbox One—you need the disk to enable playback.

There are methods (within the law) to create images of game CDs, allowing you to just use a virtual mount to play. We applied this approach with BF2 prior to DICE releasing a patch for it.
