A few questions can be unusual. The answer depends on the desired display size.

Going straight for 4K means you'll need to refresh your setup roughly every two years. A 1440p system might last three to four years before needing an upgrade. If you compare today's prices with what you'd pay twice or three times more and how often you spend, I’d advise waiting. While 4K gaming is achievable, it remains beyond the budget of most people and the costs keep growing.

Viewing 1440p appears nearly as sharp as 4K when you stand farther than a foot from the display.

It would be better to use 1440p ultrawide instead of 4K, especially since scaling causes problems in Photoshop. I have both formats and ultrawide is the preferred choice.

It varies based on screen dimensions and your viewing position. You can input details into Nvidia's calculator to estimate visual clarity for your setup. Notably, with a 1440p 27-inch display at about three feet away, the resolution doesn’t appear sharp enough for close inspection. In contrast, your 1080p 27-inch screen offers a noticeable difference compared to your brother’s lower resolution. The challenge with 4K is maintaining performance across newer titles, which often requires hardware upgrades, whereas 1440p provides better stability on powerful systems.
