I restore after a system failure, which occurred yesterday. I anticipate this might happen occasionally, and I can recover to the prior state in about 20 minutes without any data loss.

I update Windows roughly every three months or so, clear everything and begin anew.

Previously performed frequently on Windows 7, but likely won’t need to again after upgrading to Windows 10

I just switched to Windows 10 and have heard some bad reviews about reactivating the key. Honestly, I might skip it.

It wasn’t really necessary once I finished the first setup. It feels like a lot of work to do another full installation, especially after I’ve already installed all my games and programs. I think I’d only consider a clean install if I experience serious crashes or system errors.

I used to do it often, but now perhaps just once a year.

I work with both Mac OS X and Windows, typically performing a complete system reset every three years or so. This is usually done when the operating system begins behaving oddly. Since Windows 8 came out I haven’t performed a fresh install since the initial setup. For Windows 7 I refresh the OS every five to six months. On my Mac Pro, it hasn’t been updated since the release of Mac OS X Lion, except after upgrading to a Samsung 840 Evo SSD.

Setting up a dual boot between Windows and Linux around the summer holidays is common. A fresh install can help maintain stability, particularly for Windows. Right now, I’m experiencing occasional BSODs during Windows startup, which usually resolves after rebooting. Another clean install might be beneficial.

Upgrade when required... typically after significant OS changes and unusual behavior... Linux setup in dual-boot configuration to handle failures... I plan a clean installation once the new HDD is installed.

I set up Windows once my PC was built. I usually reinstall it only when something goes wrong and needs fixing.
