I mistakenly installed the incorrect screws on the motherboard, and so far no copper has been visible. However, plastic is peeling from the screws. I also accidentally attached fan screws to the board.
It's okay if you used various screws for securing the motherboard. The screws could become lodged in the standoffs, requiring pliers to extract them.
They never entered the confrontations; they were significantly larger. Adding to the situation resulted in minor harm to the openings.
It seems likely it will work, but the best way is to test it directly. For extra caution, place the motherboard in its packaging as a temporary test setup, connect the PSU and skip the rest, and use a metal object to briefly touch the power button header to trigger the system. If only the RGB and CPU error lights activate, continue assembling and assume it was just a false alarm. If something unusual occurs—like the screw hole glowing or the PSU activating with a click—remove the PSU right away and consider contacting ASUS for a replacement. This situation is rare, so the chances of a serious issue are minimal. Good luck!
