Hello, my name is Denis. I bought my first gaming PC a few years back. Recently I upgraded some parts but haven't quite hit the performance I want. If you can assist, it would be great. My setup includes an RTX 2070, a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU (4.0GHz base, 4.2GHz OC), GIGABYTE AB350 motherboard, 650W PSU, and two 8GB DDR4 RAM units from Corsair Vengeance. I also use VR often and sometimes experience lag in certain games. Thanks!
It's tough to decide what upgrades to make without clear objectives... gaming? Desired resolution? To assess RAM consistency, I'd explore and follow resources at: https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHel...aster/DDR4 OC Guide.md If it isn't stable, reduce the settings. You definitely don't want unreliable RAM. For overall system reliability, try Asus realbench: https://rog.asus.com/rog-pro/realbench-v2-leaderboard/
For 1080p your setup is more than adequate... What level of performance are you expecting? A 2070S covers 1080p gaming nicely. If you think an upgrade is necessary, check out the 3060 and what big Navi has to offer. At 1080p there shouldn’t be much left unattainable by a machine. If someone is offering a 2080 at a low price to jump to a 3080, consider it if you can find a good deal.
RAM has the least impact on performance, and if it's reliable at 3200 MHz, that's essentially the ideal standard. What delays are you experiencing? Regardless, upgrading anything else isn't necessary—just a more powerful GPU would make a noticeable difference. A quicker CPU could boost FPS slightly at 1080p, but the only significant upgrade would be switching to an Intel chip, which would also need a new graphics card. Spend your budget on a better monitor instead; it will provide the biggest improvement. 144 Hz at 1440p would be quite good.
The RAM in an AMD CPU significantly impacts performance. However, you're not seeing the expected frame rates despite spending around 800 USD on an upgrade. This situation is quite disappointing since you invested a lot for this change.
You might need to verify if your CPU and RAM are receiving the correct voltage. There are ways to test this yourself. If you're unsure about what could be causing the issue, start by checking the specifications of your components and compare them to the recommended values.
