I have a Dell workstation (the exact model doesn't matter because it's a special order). I powered it off last night and turned it back on today normally. But there was no display output or any signal. Eventually, my keyboard and mouse came back but didn’t respond to num lock or scroll lock. I replaced the GPUs—one 2080ti and another Quadro P620—but noticed they stayed cool even after being off for 5-10 minutes. When I tried to install them again, nothing worked. I’m not sure what to do next. Could both have failed after being idle for that long? Updated April 9, 2022 by bashrc

Can you verify if the GPU is inactive? Also, I’m not seeing any output from either GPU, and it seems they’re unlikely to fail at the same time. Please clarify what you mean by "MOBO"—I don’t understand that term. Additionally, I believe I’m on Windows because some keyboard features only work when the driver is set up there.

MOBO - The board supporting your CPU, GPUs, and RAM. It’s possible that if a GPU fails, the whole setup goes down. I suggest using a sacrificial system for testing. This way, if something is damaged, you can replace it without affecting your main components. A decent replacement PSU should cost around $60 USD or less. However, most valuable parts are likely damaged, and the problem probably began with the power supply or motherboard. After resetting your system’s safety features, components may be destroyed. You might find that everything except your SSD and RAM is unusable.

Starting Windows is a positive step, though it's uncertain. It could help confirm that all parts are functioning correctly.

I visited a nearby repair shop and noticed it resembled a crime scene beneath the heatsink and backplate. There was a black spot on the silicon and charred residue on the PCB. I was surprised to see the fan spinning and my monitors even detected it was plugged in. Thanks for your assistance—I’m opting for a 3060 instead.

Great, I see what you mean. Make sure to identify the exact problem area on the board and remember that the issue might not be the card itself but another part of your setup that caused the failure. Before finalizing, verify other components for any faults.

I’ll make sure to look for additional issues to avoid damaging the new GPU. It might have just been the GPU, having experienced significant use over the past few years without overheating. I’m not upset because it’s performed well since 2019. Appreciate your help!
