Windows 10 is arriving soon, with new drivers available. Can I start playing right away once I have it? Should I wait for AMD to release drivers or is there another way? I have a game I really enjoy and don’t want to delay for a week.

They've already hired drivers.

Nvidia provides drivers for Windows 10 already. I also used 8.1 AMD drivers on Windows 10 consumer preview while using my R9 280.

Hey there, I’m guessing you’re testing if I’m being clever. In short, yes, you can still play. A handful of older titles don’t run smoothly on modern systems unless they have patches. The rare exceptions were Windows 2000, where OpenGL wasn’t fully supported in the drivers back then.

It should function, but wait a bit before installing Windows 10. You can observe the number of users facing problems by checking the Operating Systems and Software section in the forum.

Witcher 3 and Hearthstone are the only titles I've tried, yet everything functions perfectly.

Users are facing difficulties with installation. Other matters seem manageable.

I've been running Windows 10 continuously since it came out. I told myself 'fuck it!' and completely replaced my Windows 8 setup. For roughly a week (starting in January), my games stopped working, but I kept playing anyway.

Drivers were unavailable, with several drivers missing during the Windows 10 preview. Some users face problems with Nvidia cards, especially those using Fermi cards (GTX 400/500), due to compatibility issues with WDDM 2.0. If you have such a card, consider waiting before upgrading.
