O.K even tho everyone suggested me to go for MSI mobo with better VRM.... (Mortar MAX, PRO-VDH MAX) I went for Gigabyte B450 Aorus M-ATX.... (check attachment) Because I am not an overclocking fan, and I always wanted a brand combo of mobo and GPU I will install the following parts: Ryzen 5 3600X GIGABYTE RTX 2070 SUPER GAMING OC 3X WHITE 8.0 GB G.Skill Flare-X 3200Mhz CL14 (2x8GB) Anyone tested VRM temps on this one? How bad is it? Shall I return it and drop my obsession of having a combo of gpu and mobo brand? I also watched this video and I am very disappointed of the performance and VRM temps of the non-M mobo...
When not overclocking, this motherboard makes perfect sense. The main worry comes from pushing the CPU past its boost limits, though airflow usually doesn’t cause much trouble.
He replayed the video and mentioned testing the mobos without any airflow—even the CPU fan wasn’t running. It seems he used a toaster and then complained about crashes. Probably everything will work fine; I plan to check the VRM temperatures with a laser thermometer just for curiosity. Since it's a budget board, I could sell it and get an MSI. Hope I'm not disappointed. Thanks!
I own that board and have pushed it to 3.89ghz with close to 1.4v (likely higher based on GN's video readings vs. socket). After a year it still functions well. From what I know, you can even boost it to 3700x and it works. People often mention running 3600x on A320s without VRMs and they’re fine too. In some cases, motherboard quality seems exaggerated since most users don’t go that far. If you can afford a better board, do so. But problems won’t appear suddenly unless the board itself is subpar. At best, it might just slow down in real-world use.
Just to clarify, I'm running at 1.392 vcore on my 1600 on the Gigabyte B450 Aorus M. After 15 minutes of Realbench testing, the VRM temperature is around 67°C per sensor. I understand sensors might not be precise, but the only sure way is to insert a probe. I won't do that. Still, the temps are holding steady. Note: I have a Wraith Prism downdraft cooler, which might also aid in some extra VRM cooling. I also have two 120mm fans at the back and another pair at the front for intake. Edit: I may have misread the sensor values. Either way, 67°C is acceptable in Realbench—this kind of stress test is unlikely to happen during regular gaming.
The interesting part is that I bought this board because it was advertised as a B-tier option here on the tier list, fitting overclocking for Ryzen 7 1700/2700 models. At first, I imagined upgrading to an 8-core downline setup. But once the 500 series came out, its status shifted dramatically. Keep in mind these tier rankings can vary based on different evaluation standards.

With a third generation X chip, performance improves significantly. Earlier generations with non-X chips behaved similarly to stock, but modern X chips deliver much higher speeds. At standard stock settings, my 1600 clocked around 3.3GHz most of the time.
I was thinking about it once more...!! I plan to sell everything upon arrival and purchase an MSI motherboard plus a GPU combo. Since Gigabyte misled about their 8+3 phase VRMs, it’s a smart move to be honest.
