Your RAM seems to be using a lot of resources even when idle, possibly due to background processes or system settings. It might be running unnecessary tasks or having high memory demand from other apps. Check for updates, disable unused services, and ensure your laptop’s settings are optimized for low memory usage.

It's typical and not unusual. Having more RAM generally means more applications can run smoothly. It's just pre-caching data, which doesn't affect performance and may even improve it.

You're wondering why your desktop runs smoothly even with limited memory, while you notice lag when opening just one Chrome tab with YouTube playing. It might be related to background processes, browser settings, or system resource allocation.

I'm looking into my G17 with 6.2/31.2GB used, no stutters or problems at all—so there must be another reason behind your issues (it wouldn't make sense to assume even 8GB is a lot).

Thanks for the update. I understand you just purchased it and found it costly, so you're taking good care of it. It might be related to the internet, but I appreciate your effort. Please keep an eye on the battery life—about two hours seems short. Any advice would be great to extend it a bit longer. Thanks for the tips!

You can switch it to Windows power-saving mode, but it won't make a big difference... It's better to bring a charger!
