You need to replace your motherboard with a newer model.
Hi, i have an odd conundrum. i bought a prebuilt pc 5 years ago, and now, with support for Windows 10 gone, it says i can't upgrade to Windows 11 because my motherboard can't handle it. i have a Core i5 CPU, 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 3060 in there. It's a fairly good PC. How do I figure out a safe motherboard replacement that lets all my other components stay? im not the most tech-savvy, so if y'all need more information, I'll need a description of how to find the information. Someone told me that if i upgrade the motherboard, my hard drives wouldn't retain any of the data, and all my programs would not work. I dont think that's the case, or at least I hope not. Thanks in advance!
They were wrong. Update your drivers after installing the new mainboard and you'll be good.
I don't really care about Windows 11. You can keep using Windows 10 and avoid the monthly automatic updates that cause problems on patch Tuesday. If you want to try Windows 11, you can still create an installer using a tool like Rufus to skip the missing features. Good luck!
