In my current setup the specs are CPU: Intel Core I7-6700, GPU: GTX 1080 Ti, motherboard: H170 Pro gaming board, RAM: 16GB DDR4. My main concern is whether performance matches expectations. I often see frame rate drops in games like Fortnite and CS:GO, especially at higher settings. The GPU seems to be limiting the experience. I’m wondering if the GPU is slowing things down due to the CPU or vice versa. At 1920x1080 at 144Hz, a GTX 1080 Ti might feel a bit too much for smooth gameplay. Should I consider swapping it for something cheaper or upgrade the CPU instead? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
I don't have specific details about the build, but generally, a high-performance DDR4 RAM would be suitable for this setup.
2666 could significantly assist, and I think that's the highest supported speed for h170 xmp profiles.
For the high refresh rate you're aiming for, it would significantly improve performance, especially by enhancing your low frame rates.
I'm uncertain if the motherboard can handle rates above 2133.
