After installing Control from Steam, it restarts to the desktop upon launch. You need to install Visual C++ and the latest DirectX components.

Control is available in two versions: DX11 and DX12. A crash to the desktop might stem from more than just the game—PC configuration, drivers, or bugs could be involved. Are there other games experiencing similar problems? GPU driver issues typically resolve by using DDU (DisplayDriverUninstaller) from Guru3D and then reinstalling the newest drivers from NVIDIA’s site. Have you made any changes since posting this? Even minor adjustments to system settings might affect things.

You haven't merely rearranged things, have you? Mixing old Drivers Old PC files with new hardware often causes issues, so consider reinstalling Windows on your SSD if you simply swapped the old unit into the new one. Remnants of the previous system are probably affecting your performance. Resetting Windows settings might help, but first ensure important data is saved on the C drive—desktop files and document folders. Problems with Intel Drivers (many built into Windows Core), AMD System drivers, or timing conflicts can also be the cause.
