Hello, I purchased an older laptop that runs Windows 8. I’ve accidentally damaged my Windows files and need to reinstall the OS. My recovery drive is missing, so I’m looking for a Windows 8 ISO file or similar installer. So far, I’ve only found Windows 8.1 installers which aren’t suitable. If anyone knows a safe source and can share a link, that would be really helpful. Thanks.

I'm not entirely confident, but I thought version 8.1 was a free update for Windows 8. It seems the 8.1 installation might not be functioning properly. Microsoft appears to have been working hard to hide it.

I didn’t manage to upgrade the laptop to Windows 8.1 before it stopped working properly. When the installer asks for a media, it just says the file isn’t valid. It looks like Microsoft has made Windows 8 very hard to find anymore.

This platform is designed for safety and belongs to a "data hording" group. I've previously saved some items there without problems. Currently, it seems under heavy strain, which might delay the download by several hours. You might find the 'en_windows_8_x64_dvd_915440' version useful if you have the home edition. To confirm the file's integrity, you can use the SHA1 hash 1CE53AD5F60419CF04A715CF3233F247E48BEEC4 available online, along with guidance on verification. http://naterice.com/windows-8-and-8-1-is...a1-hashes/
