has someone a solid suggestion for a motherboard fitting an LGA 1151-2 (coffee lake) socket? For your i5-8500 from that old office station, you're looking for something under 100€. I was thinking it might be a bit too cheap, but I thought it could work. Check out the link you shared if you want more details.
these items are now around 30€ or less because this platform is outdated. You’d be better off selling your 8500 to someone who might buy it and get a used Ryzen 3600(X) for about 50€, plus a new one for roughly 60€, or even a used model under 50€ that offers better performance outright. You also have the chance to upgrade later to something like a 5700X3D/5800X3D if you think those are reasonable prices in the used market.
It would be costly to buy a 1151v2 board, and most of them will likely be discarded soon. If I were making the decision, I’d choose an i3-12100F with H610, B660, or B760 instead. The H310 is quite basic unless you’re okay with such a simple setup. It lacks a heatsink on the VRM and has no M.2 slot, which I view as a minimum requirement in 2024. I’d consider a B360/B365 or Z370/Z390 board, but keep in mind not to spend too much on something so outdated for such a powerful CPU.
Stock for retail 1151v2 boards is limited, as many local stores have run out. Intel no longer backs it for regular buyers. Consider purchasing a used one nearby.
