I own an Asus ROG Strix (5800H / 3080). It's been my machine for about a year, but the limited 16GB RAM made it tough to run certain Tarkov maps. I checked some YouTube tutorials on upgrading and thought it would be easy. I bought a 32GB kit with a 16x2 3200MHz module. I followed the guides step by step—removed screws, took off the panel carefully, unplugged the battery, swapped in the new RAM, reconnected everything, and restarted. After that, my monitor, mouse, keyboard worked perfectly. When I booted Tarkov into Streets, everything ran smoothly without any glitches. The only hiccup was a persistent orange light on the task manager—probably when battery dropped below 10%. Since I rarely used it while plugged in, it stayed at full charge. I unplugged the cord briefly during installation and the laptop cut out completely. After reconnecting, it powered back up. In MyAsus I saw a new icon on the taskbar showing 255% usage—maybe a battery warning. I’m not sure what to do yet. Any tips would be appreciated!
You may need to take out those 11 screws and re-examine the battery connector. Make sure it’s straight and securely fastened. EDIT. While unplugging, you’ll probably have to reconfigure it as well. I checked it again about an hour ago to see if the plug wasn’t fully inserted, so I unplugged it and then reinserted it. During this attempt I saw some small sparks—not big ones, but like those brief flashes or shocks you get when connecting a device to a wall outlet. This happened while I was trying to put the battery back into the motherboard. I used a plastic tool from my laptop and kept my hands as gentle as possible. It seems I wasn’t applying too much pressure, but it still seemed unusual.
