Hello, I just arrived home with my laptop nearly dead. Before I could plug it in to charge, it died when I put it in. The charging light turned on but then the plug was knocked over, so I put it back in carefully. Now it won’t charge at all. I suspect a surge might have caused this. I already pulled out my hard drive to get my files and tried it without the battery installed, holding down the power button to stop charging—though I’m not sure if that helps. After letting it sit for a few days, it still doesn’t work. I think the issue is with the motherboard. Could anyone suggest possible fixes? Is it worth taking it to a repair shop? I don’t really want to replace the board if there’s any chance, since it costs over $400 AUD on AliExpress depending on what you get. It’s not a display problem; the indicator lights and power button aren’t working, and there’s no fan spinning when I try to turn it on. Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you verify that all components were correctly reassembled after removing the SSD?

Yes, although I didn't reinstall the hard drive because I still need access to my files on another computer, the indicator lights haven't stopped working.

I saw the standoffs on the GPU heatsink come out from the mainboard. I don’t think it’ll stop it from turning on, but it’s something to note. This might be a correction issue for the CPU heatsink.

I’m unsure if anyone will ever read this, but I believe the CPU die contains a chip (as shown in the photos taken under my powerful microscope). I don’t understand why this might prevent it from charging.
