For "education" you might boot into a chroot environment on a live USB and use the Passwd command to alter the super user password. https://dzone.com/articles/uncommon-usag...-resetting Alternatively, simply reinstall since your current one is still valid.

You may also instruct grub to start Bash instead of systemd, which will allow you to log in directly to a root shell without needing a password.
