First of all, I don't know if this is the right category for this post, but here goes. My problem, as stated in the title, is that I have more Xeons than I know what to do with. I have listed a few on Ebay, but they haven't sold well. Apparently, there isn't a huge m,arket for used Xeons. So, with that in mind, what should I do with them? I would like to make some money on them, and to recoup my investment I only need to sell them for $5 each.

These old xeons lose much of their worth these days unless a niche group is interested in tinkering or an old company needs to swap out outdated servers. It’s usually better to fit them into compatible motherboards and sell the board and processor packages together, since people tend to replace boards more often than individual CPUs.

The value of an Xeon depends on its model. For instance, older E5 2690 chips remain valuable, but lower-tier sockets like 1366 or below wouldn’t be worth much.

Depends heavily on the models in question. The older LGA 771 Xeons aren't a good deal, usually only worth a few dollars each. A Xeon X5550 on LGA 1366 might be available for less than $5, and possibly even under $1 from someone looking to sell.

They're definitely X58 models. Those enthusiasts love pushing them to their limits!

What models are these? If they're the budget options for the socket, they don't add much value. For instance, 4c/8t Xeons for LGA1366 or LGA2011 aren't particularly valuable. However, 4c/8t Xeons for mainstream systems without extra cores are less valuable. Most LGA1366 6c/12t units typically don't increase in price much beyond around 30€ due to high availability and overclocking potential. On LGA2011, high-performance Xeons with 6c/12t or more can command a significant premium.

I possess a diverse selection, roughly 60% of which are 1366, 30% are 771, and the remaining 5% each from lower-end 1156 and 2011 models. Following recommendations, I’ll likely skip the 771s. The 2011 units will be included as they’re the latest, possibly attracting interest. For the premium 1366s I’ll probably leave them alone, and I’ll likely handle the top-tier 1366s as well. The rest will be discarded, though many still have some value even if minimal.
