AVG continues to push its message that I’m not protected, and when I attempt to remove it from the program manager it keeps complaining about my PC failing or something. I need it gone—I can access the settings easily. What should I do?
The full boot time scan with Avast has already been completed. It detected a lot of issues—this isn’t just my PC, it’s been used by my dad and others at work. He tried removing AVG, but the system crashed, restarted, and now it keeps doing this. After installing Avast, it really cleared up most of the problems.
That's an interesting idea. *wrinkles forehead in contemplation*
Only one method will confirm your PC is clean. Use these programs if they find nothing: 1) Malwarebytes Anti Malware, 2) Kaspersky TDSSKiller, 3) Norton Power Eraser, 5) ESET Online Scanner, 6) AdwCleaner.
It's understandable, but this program hasn't encountered any serious malware. The main issues are ads and other unwanted content. I don't have much concern about its long-term security since I plan to reinstall the operating system soon.
Opt for alternatives to AVG like Avira, Bitdefender, ESET or Kaspersky. If budget allows, I suggest Kaspersky for strong security with minimal impact on performance, but if speed matters most, ESET is a solid choice due to its lightweight operation while still offering solid protection.
Safe Mode -> Use Unistall via Glary Absolute Unistall (http://www.glarysoft.com/absolute-uninstaller/) Install Bitdefender + Malwarebytes. Perfect!
