I’m planning to refresh the bios since the previous one was from November 2019 and I think I got the board around January 2019. Checking the ASRock site should help me avoid damaging my PC.

Hardware allocation often means the BIOS isn't releasing it properly. It appears but your operating system can't access it. Common reasons include: BIOS version mismatch, reserved for the graphics card (usually just 2GB), or incorrect configuration order. In your situation, there are only two slots so resetting the CPU might help.
