Things are worsening for me. The same problem recurs—it’s the same issue as before. They sent a replacement CPU cooler, checked that the metal legs weren’t damaged, and set it to the 1150 socket. I expected this time everything would work smoothly, since the previous one failed. I upgraded my PC and managed to get it running fine at first. Still, the process repeated exactly like the post I read. I followed the instructions carefully: installed the backplate, secured the screws, lowered the cooler—but it couldn’t reach the backplate properly. I tried swapping the backplate onto the cooler, then onto the motherboard, but it wouldn’t fit. I thought maybe the screws were loose, so I removed them, reinserted the screws, and even tried forcing a diagonal screw in, but it didn’t go through. Now the legs are bent, not broken, and I’m worried they won’t straighten. I also made sure the fan was pointing at the RAM to ensure good contact. It did touch the CPU, so it should have worked. That's typical. You start by placing them on the diagonal opposite corners, putting in a lot of work. The ag200 is really hard to install, and for just $5 more you could get a cooler that uses screws instead of plastic clips.
What is the price? I’d pay five dollars instead of doing this! Which CPU cooler are you talking about? Since I’m in Sweden, it might not be another five, maybe more like fifteen. "The ag200 just sucks to install" Okay. Is there a way though? I’ve seen others do it on different boards. I bent it back as Levent suggested, went back to the manual order, so the backplate fits on the board, so I think I bent them back accurately enough. Now I’m facing the usual problem again, but I found out I can manage. I attached one side of the cooler to the backplate. I took pictures, tried it on the opposite side instead of what was shown first, and gently pressed toward the detached part—it made a creaking sound, whatever you call it. I’d be surprised if I couldn’t do it easily, but I’m not doing this blindly. Can I bend it into place? If you check the angle the cooler is in, that’s probably the biggest bend I need on the other side to attach it. I didn’t try to bring it back to a perfect zero angle; bending it further would be necessary. It’s tough to get a clear photo, but if these are too blurry, I might get a better shot.
Follow the cooler guidelines carefully. The setup isn't matching because you have parts for both LGA1700 and LGA115x configurations. Notice the variation between the two images? The right one matches LGA1700/LGA1851, while the other is for LGA115x.
Compare the two posts clearly. The one on the right matches the LGA1700/LGA1851 slot. I adjusted it to 1150, but I'm sure that's correct. Could the other be one of the bent legs? If the new positioning was enough apart from the original spot, it might still fit LGA1700. I'll verify immediately and let you know if it's set to LGA1500.
