Hello, You switched from a 4070 to a 5070 Ti and noticed performance drops and screen tearing. After a clean DDU install, the issue persists. Your system has 32 GB RAM and an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Performance is solid, usually higher than your monitor’s 165Hz. I suspect the problem might be related to the monitor settings—capping FPS in games didn’t help, but using GeForce still limited it. The AW3423DWF monitor is connected. Any advice?

I used a screenshot to show the settings and the monitor I’m using.

Are there consistent signs of tearing? It seems some titles behave differently—like specific games, frame rates, or display modes. Have you adjusted settings such as HDR, scaling, or the source device (HDMI vs. HDMI)?

It seems the issue arises when adjusting the monitor refresh rate, leading me to believe the GeForce max frame rate limit might help—but it doesn’t. The monitor supports 165, but the cap was set at 164. I haven’t tested HDR or windowed modes for any effect. I’m currently using fullscreen on the displayport.

I believe I found the solution. In the NVidia control panel, I adjusted the image settings, selected the advanced 3D image options, and then in the manage 3D settings I confirmed the monitor was set to Gysnc. The other steps were setting the FPD cap in GeForce to 5 fps based on my monitor’s refresh rate, aiming for a frame rate of 120 for better stability.

It seems most developers have adopted Microsoft’s approach of concealing crucial options across multiple locations without a clear choice. However, finding Gsync appears to have resolved the issue for you.
