Hi everyone, I just bought a new computer and need to set up an email account so I can send business messages. Is there a way to keep all the old emails in my inbox safe from being downloaded? I really need Outlook on this new PC for my company work, but I don't want it copying up 7 years of messages. My laptop is already done with that, so I think I'm all set. Hope you understand my question well. Thanks!
If you mean Microsoft Outlook (part of MS Office or Microsoft 365), then you should make a separate profile for your job email and pick that one every time you open it. For the regular "other" version on Windows 10, I would just connect your personal emails to one group and leave work emails by themselves.
I don't know the difference between email and phone or text messages. My webhost uses IONOS 1&1 for mail. Is this right? I think it's using IMAP, but I'm not sure. Can you help me figure that out?
It could change things a lot if you knew it. You have to be aware of that before setting up the new software. Check what's already on your system or give a call to your service. You can't move forward unless you get this data first.
If you mean Microsoft Outlook (which comes with MS Office or Microsoft 365), then you need to set up a special profile for your work email, so you use that specific profile each time you open it. For the standard "other" versions of Outlook on Windows 10, I suggest grouping your personal emails together and letting your work emails stay separate.
