I want to completely wipe and reinstall my asus laptop. But when I click reset this PC under recovery, it automatically starts a fresh install from here instead of letting me choose the clean download option. That scares me because my bsod keeps happening for a year now, and my local storage is really broken. I tried running SFC and DISM over and over, but nothing fixed that problem either. I also checked my asus drivers and ran drive error checks, but they didn't help at all. So now I'm only left with this clean download of win11. Myasus says everything is fine on their part, though I still want to make sure before starting. Can you please help me? Thanks so much.
MediaCreation tool, an 8GB or bigger flash drive, and install. How To - Windows 11 clean install tutorial This guide is meant to help you, one by one, do a clean install of Windows 11, version 23H2 or newer but can also work for older versions that might have some small changes in what you see on the screen but will mostly stay similar... forums.
If you need to fix BSOD errors, do not use the Windows Reset feature for either local or cloud reset (which is what I assume you mean). The Windows Reset just wipes out some Windows libraries but keeps your third-party drivers. That's exactly the problem most BSODs have: bad third-party drivers cause them. So a Reset won't fix those issues at all. Instead, download Windows 11 onto a USB drive, boot from that drive, pick custom install, delete every UEFI partition on it, and then install to the empty drive.
Thanks to everyone, I managed to clean remove a cloud download using Mediacreation tool while keeping my apps and settings safe. (ISO method) Hopefully this will fix the BSOD that has been happening for months now. Above all, I always cleaned my install with DDU when it came to GPU drivers plus I don't really have experience dealing with USB drives or partitions, so if I mess up my ASUS WinRE and accidentally delete it then you are safe from getting there. Since I had limited access to tutorials and hardware also makes things complicated for me. But interesting thing is that my Asus tests did pass everything successfully before and now they do too. So I guess my Asus isn't good at detecting issues but that is okay now hopefully forever. Never used cloud install before so it was always reinstalling from my laptop so I take it as the main issue Thanks again
There isn't really a "cloud install," just a cloud reset. A Windows reset is not like a clean install, as I explained before. No matter if it's cloud or local, a reset doesn't delete third-party drivers. This means that when BSODs happen, the real problem must be in those drivers.
Thanks for all the details. I didn't know that either. My laptop is a g15 Asus Zephyrus ROG, released in 2022. If anything else goes wrong, can I go back to Windows 10? My computer is on Win10 and feels much more stable than Win11 based on my experience. Is this laptop okay for Windows 10, or am I stuck with Win11 forever? Thanks so much!
