I recently swapped out a GPU at your local repair shop, and now the E: drive appears as an F: drive. I've attempted to adjust the lettering, similar to what you might do online, but nothing seems to resolve the issue—especially since the letter doesn't show up. It just jumps from B to F without changing. How can I fix this so the drive recognizes it as E:?
Windows keeps the OS drive plus the next two letters available. For example, if the boot drive is C:, D and E won’t be usable for new partitions. They act like Windows files or something similar. I’m not sure how to adjust this either. Do you really have to modify it?
Consider these options: 1 attempt to scroll down to see if the old E drive is still listed and remove it. 2 start in safe mode and retry. 3 review your registry and modify or delete it there. But I can't remember the path, just search online. 4 It could be linked with removable drives, so try removing and/or inserting USB drives to verify. 5 Rebuild the BCD (search for the steps again).
Please share a complete image of your drives or partitions. There might already be something assigned to E: already.
