I own an older computer I assembled myself, which still works well with the games I enjoy. But Windows 10 won’t upgrade to Windows 11 since it claims my processor isn’t compatible. Do you have a solution?
My system has an Intel Core i5 4670K Quad Core 3.4 HGZ, an Asus Z87-A motherboard, and a GTX760. I think upgrading might be the best option. The problem is with Baldur's Gate 3—my video drivers are stuck on W11, and BD3 shows only waypoints without the actual landscape.

Yes, your 4th Gen i5 falls well outside the supported range for Win 11. Your current WIn 10 remains fully supported for over two years (as of October 2025). Since WIn 10 is still the most widely used Windows version, I don't support the notion that only WIn 11 is available. Especially with a GTX 760, it makes sense to keep things as they are until you upgrade in the next couple of years.

The latest driver I can download from Nvidia is around 479.XX, though I believe the newest version is closer to 539. It seems I've been away from PC building for a while and might switch to a laptop instead. It should have an 8 gig min GPU, 16 gig DDR5 RAM, and at least 400 nit brightness. Also, why do so many laptops come with 512 GB? Balders Gate 3 alone is 130 GB.

Unless you have an actual problem, you don't need to upgrade the driver.
As for the drive space, most people with laptops don't install large games.
You should be able to find laptops with 1 or 2TB drives, or upgrade them yourself.

I don't believe it's a good idea to upgrade an unsupported CPU for Windows 11. While it might be possible in most cases, since your CPU isn't supported, Microsoft could later modify Windows 11 in a way that prevents your system from working properly. What should you do next?

The GTX 760 is a graphics card from ten years ago, and its driver support has been stopped since 2021. It isn't related to Windows 11. Nvidia also ended support for older GPUs like Kepler, as well as Windows 7 and 8/8.1 on August 31. More info at

The Windows update isn't enough; you need to upgrade your GPU.
