So yeah, i know this was already answered before, but it did NOT work for me at all. I am absolutely FRIGHTENED right now! Every single time i get this error, my internet or network stops working for about 15 to 20 seconds for no reason that makes sense. Everything just freezes out completely: games, discord, google, firefox... everything goes dark. Funny thing is, even though the symbols on my computer show that my internet connection is still connected and sending/receiving data packets, i can't use anything. I have searched and searched and searched online for nothing to fix this problem.
Here is an example of what is happening right now:
* **I am using:** Windows 11 up to date (i used to be on Windows 10 with the same problems).
* **The Error Message:** Name resolution timed out because my DNS servers did not answer for the name "catalog.gamepass.com". The client PID was 19468. (Do not ask me what that site is because it changes every time, but the problem stays exactly the same with DNS). An event log from System showed a warning about a DNS query failing to resolve the IP address for catalog.gamepass.com. The specific details were:
* QueryName: catalog.gamepass.com
* AddressLength: 128 bytes long
* ClientPID: 19468
I have tried everything I can think of to fix this problem:
* Reset my router and flush the IPv4 cache.
* Help me because google gives me exactly the same answers every single time, even though they never seem to be right or helpful.
* Cleaned up my computer completely with a fresh image install.
* Rolled back from Windows 11 (which is actually the latest version) all the way to Windows 10 (it worked before), just in case rolling back helps.
I checked every cable and even looked at CAT cables, but nothing helped either because I never had any issues with my internet connection while i was using POI (Power over Internet). I also tried resetting my BIOS to default settings just to see if that would help, but it did not fix the problem or bring it back.
My friend needs some help too, so i am asking for advice again and again because google keeps giving me the same wrong answers every time.
Which computers are you using for your DNS settings? Did you try setting your computer's own DNS servers to Google's addresses, like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4? Also, did you make sure that IPv6 is turned off on the device?
I tried setting my DNS to Google or Cloudflare, but IPv6 is off so no change there. Even after resetting to default, I got the same error again. Uninstalling Dragon didn't help either. I also updated my Network drivers using Gigabyte APP Center just in case that fixes it and keep watching for now.
