You can use a high-quality microphone and a dedicated recording device to capture PC gaming content for YouTube.
Hey there! I see you're planning to launch a YouTube channel focused on PC gaming, with a bit of console content too. You mentioned you already know the fundamentals—microphone, pop filter, capture card, editing software, and more. Since you're aiming for decent frame rates on one PC, you might want to consider a dedicated capture card that plugs directly into your PC for smooth recording. A webcam could also be useful if you plan to include it occasionally. Let me know if you need help picking the right gear or setting up the setup! And congratulations on reaching that milestone—1 million views is awesome!
Some advice: 1) I've never heard of you, nor has anyone else on the internet. You're not PewDiePie, nor will you ever take the place of PewDiePie. So why are you wanting to record PC gameplay? Unless you're a good reviewer or you have a good Twitch personality, then it's pointless and a waste of time and money for you. 2) If you think somehow you'll make it big time to outweigh the effort and money put into it, then instead of buying an expensive capture card just use Dxtory if you don't have an Nvidia card, or use Shadowplay if you have an Nvidia card to record your gameplay.
On PC, I rely on ShadowPlay since I have an Nvidia graphics card. What GPU do you recommend?
Which GPU model are you employing? Perhaps Nvidia Shadow Play would work well for recording videos. If you need compatibility across both PC and consoles, the AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable might be a good option. The choice really depends on your current setup or budget. Options range from Windows Movie Maker to Adobe Premier Pro. Could you share your budget so we can better understand your needs?
My GTX 770 runs smoothly with ShadowPlay enabled, and it doesn’t noticeably impact frame rates.
I haven't experienced console gaming recording (my last device was a Hauppauge HD PVR). For microphones, begin with options like Blue Snowball, Blue Yeti, or AT2020. You can also use a kit such as the Scarlett model available on Amazon.
For headphones, consider a Blue Snowball, though I wouldn’t recommend a headset unless you decide otherwise. A mic stand and pop filter are essential.
When choosing editing software, Final Cut Pro works well on Macs, while Premiere Pro or Vegas are alternatives. Shadowplay is useful if your system supports it, but it can increase file sizes significantly.
Balancing gaming and workstation gear is key. My setup used an FX-series processor and 16GB of RAM. It affects gaming performance, though editing remains smooth.
