Ordered a Dell refurbished laptop from dellrefurbished.ca with a complete Win7 Pro 64bit copy. I’m checking if using its original Win7 key can help activate a new Windows 10 or Windows 10 Pro installation on the same device. Planning to try it once the laptop arrives, but curious about how this method holds up after the free upgrade window closed.

I know that the Windows 8 keys I bought a while back are still functional. They were merely inexpensive "upgrade" codes that also activate a freshly installed Windows 10 Pro.

Microsoft, whoever handles these choices, really wants people using Windows 10, and I’m confident they’d make it happen.

I recently reinstalled Windows 10 with my previous Windows 7 Home 64-bit key. It should function properly now.
