Hello everyone, I’m facing a question about my old Sony Vaio laptop. It’s running an Intel dual-core processor from the Merom line, has 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 200GB HDD. It still works fine, but I’m thinking about converting it into a Media PC for streaming movies, music, and possibly YouTube. My concern is whether it can handle Windows 10 or if I should stick with Windows 7 or 8 instead. I’m already doing some maintenance—applying thermal paste and cleaning the HDD—to extend its life. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I've never used linux, but would it be a problem? its a pc used primarily for watching movies and videos. there would be nothing else in it. and I haven't even figured out whether or not the internet works (It doesnt have wifi, and I seem to have misplaced all my ethernet cables)
This appears to be a media server setup. High security is crucial here. Using a strong firewall such as Comodo will help. You might still run Vista if the server meets its requirements.
