I recently installed an SSD and cleared some files to free space for transferring data. I accidentally deleted something I shouldn’t have, which caused Windows to refuse booting from my hard drive. I discovered a Windows 8.1 disc and placed it on the SSD, but without an activation key, I want to access the licensed version. How can I reinstall or activate Windows on this drive?

Because you're planning to switch to an SSD, start by installing Windows on it. Then install a portable Linux distribution and store it on a USB drive. After that, boot from the USB and transfer the files you wish to retain onto your SSD.
