The goal is to use four 8 GB 3600 CL18 sticks for my Zen 3 build. The decision behind this can be explained elsewhere. I often notice that purchasing two sets of 2x8 seems around 30/€ less than buying a single 4x8 package. It might be that the 4x8s are grouped together, and they’re not as common, which pushes their prices up. Still, it doesn’t really matter much for me. I plan to skip worrying too much about memory speeds. Based on my past experience, I’ll apply the XMP profile and proceed. What makes sense is whether the extra 30€ is worth it for the improved performance.

Yes, you're correct. I manage my 64GB setup that way, but keep in mind running on four sticks can be trickier. XMP might not function perfectly right away without some adjustments. However, Zen2 and Zen3 memory controllers are more than capable of handling speeds above 3600MHz, so it should work well overall.

Absolutely, it's important. I've seen many situations where people assume XMP settings will apply, only to find out otherwise and seek advice online. I don't handle customer service for any memory kit company, yet I can picture the challenges they face.

Usually customers purchase various kits instead of identical ones. If the factory quality checks pass, two identical kits should perform adequately. However, 3600CL18 tends to have lower quality. The 3200CL14 and 3600CL16 models are excellent alternatives and likely won’t cost significantly more.

Identical variations are probably the cause. It’s likely the exact same unit, not just a different label. (The name usually refers only to the heat spreader.)

I remember Gskill, Corsair and Crucial being part of it. I’ve had that experience too; Adata probably isn’t the best starting point.

I recall that a few years back G.Skill experienced a significant quality control issue, which predated the Ryzen lineup. They had to address it due to early memory problems in the first-gen Ryzen chips.
