This approach isn't very sensible. He prefers not to upgrade his computer, which is his preference. Offering a choice matters. It might be challenging for him, so I also provided an easier alternative (I revised my post afterward) with the simplest method. I don't enjoy forced updates when I don't want them, so I turned off automatic updates and kept my BITS disabled as described. I only check for updates when I have the time.
