PC FPS Troubles. Hello, I’m seeking assistance with this gaming performance problem I’ve faced over the past few weeks. I’m clear that my system isn’t optimized for high-end gaming, so I understand it’s not the ideal setup I envisioned. My specs are: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, 3GB RAM, 16GB storage, 1TB drive.

My concern is this: after a recent reset, my PC still works but experiences random crashes. I’ll focus on a clean installation now. My primary titles are CSGO, RUST, GTAV, and SKYRIM. On my BenQ-XL2411P monitor at 144Hz, I usually see 110-150 FPS in low-medium settings. I have stable performance until I switch games.

I’m planning to install Skyrim now, since I know we can’t keep one game running forever. Once the download finishes, I’ll start it and notice some minor stutters—still within normal range. After a few hours, I’ll try back up Counter-Strike again. The FPS drops sharply when switching tabs or entering the lobby (down to 200-300), but it recovers quickly once loaded.

Currently, I’m experiencing significant FPS fluctuations in the lobby, especially when changing tabs or testing deathmatch modes. I’m trying to figure out what’s causing this instability and how to fix it so I can enjoy gaming without constant resets. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Review your task manager to see which programs are consuming your resources. FPS depends on the number of apps using your system, not just the total number of software installed.

I checked it and before starting CSGO everything was closed in Task Manager with only essential tasks running. When I launch the game, the same low FPS persists. Before starting the game, the in-game FPS is edited as of May 4, 2020 by topzz

GPU performance is solid and consistent during gameplay. Memory usage exceeds the expected amount, as observed in Overwatch testing.

Check if your display connects to the mainboard for CPU-based graphics or directly to the GTX 1060.

Verified GPU utilization and all appears normal (average levels). Also confirmed the monitor connections are secure and positioned correctly. Thanks for your assistance so far—I'm glad to hear it!
